We used Energex pellets 2 years ago when they were a honey golden color, and they worked just great, just recently however, we purchased some "new" Energex pellets that were colored green, and they clogged up our stove and caused it to spit out codes al over the place, lots of E-2's and E-3's. We will go back to using the honey colored pellets if Energex ever decides to remake them, until then, Spruce Point are the best!

Just so everyone is aware. We have a local Energex plant in our community. Regardless if you buy Juniata, premier, stove chow, or energex pellets they are the same pellets made by Energex. just different bags. This information comes from a person that works in the control room of the plant.

I was told by a local shop not to buy Hamer's this year. They are burning hotter then normal and causing damage to your stove.. I have a PB105 Broiler and its hard trying to find the right combination for this stove... I usually like Energex but my local Agway has a great brand this year.

I am in my third year with a Harmon Accentra which is a wonderful little stove managing to heat my 1500 square foot house with no need to supplement with oil and won't have to until the daytime temperature goes below 30-35 .

I've used a variety of pellets, but this year caught a buy on Energex from my local Aubuchon at $240 a ton plus $25 delivery charge. I am very pleased with these pellets. While they burn at a slightly lower temperature and consume about 5% more than other brands to maintain the temperature I want, they are very clean burning and have the lowest ash of any pellet I've used to date.

By the way, when I installed the stoe on the first floor, I moved the oil thermostat to the second floor so it is governed by the upstairs temperature. Currently setting to stove temperature (room temperature setting ) to 68-70 gives me a room temperature of 73 or so close to the stove, falling off to 68-70 as I move away from the stove to the rest of the first floor and because the heat rises through the ceiling with the aid of a ceiling fan pushing it up, I easily maintain a temperature of 70+ upstairs.

Of course, with the oil burner on a lot less (just to heat hot water, and hot water carrying pipes pretty well insulated, the basement is cool, mid to high 50's

Lisa, juniata pellets are produced from the same factory as the energex american brand. They come from Pa. I burned a half a ton last year and found them to be better than good heat wise and poor in the ash dept. A good way to tell a good pellet is from the smell. If if smells like cardboard...don;t bother.
