Some stoves do not like Cubex pellets if you don't mind can you list your stove type and the pellets that it did like to help other users out? I have a Quad Castile that loves the Cubex and a Breckwell P-23 FS that loves NEWP.

This is my first...and last....time using Cubex pellets. I've had great success with Lignetics and other brands. Used up my three tons this year and with the price of oil decided to grab another ton to get us through to the springtime. Only area dealer with any pellets left in the season had Cubex and having read good things on here about them I had no qualms going in.

I burned 3 tons of another brand with no issues. Filled the hopper and let it run out. Burned well and used my ash-vac to suck up the average amount of ash each time. The first time I tried Cubex the stove shut down after 3 hrs due to over-temp issue. Lots of char-broiled pellets in the burnpot (appeared to burn down to 50% size) so I tweaked the settings up and down to adjust the fan, while keeping the feed at a lower setting. All that got me was differences in how long it would burn before shutting down. Cleaned & checked blower and exhaust fans & vents. Tried a bag of the old brand and worked fine. Went back to Cubex and right back where I started. There also is a noticeable difference in the ashes. The Cubex burns into a crustlike pile of ash that lifts up in one piece with a putty knife. It also has a green/blue cast to the ash mass.

I cannot wait to work my way through the ton and I will NEVER buy them again. Fifty bucks more for the ton and 2-3 times the daily maintenance ....unfortunately you don't always get what you pay for. Might not be a popular opinion but for my experience I can say that Cubex sucks. They might work well for some people but I have found them to be a major pain in the a$$.

The small holes in the bags are to let the air out when the bags are filled and sealed. This will allow the bags to remain flat when stacked on pallets/ skids. The pellets are generally cold when filled, if they are hot, condensation will start and degrade the quality of the pellet.

The small holes in the bag are normal they are they to help with condensation. Most pellet brands do have small holes due to the temperature extremes to let moisture out. Keeping your pellets in the garage is a very good thing I know allot of people that keep them out side. All stoves are different and some like one pellet brand more than another. Maybe you should ask your dealer what settings they recommend to burn the Cubex pellets.

I just a had a new stove installed. They started me off with a bag of Vermont something pellets, the heat was amazing. I followed up with Cubex, based on the dealer recommendation, and the heat level is very poor. Sure, there is little ash, but when pellets drop in the flame goes down.

I noticed there are a lot of little air holes in the bag. Is this normal? It seems like this would let moisture in. Most other brabds appear to have sealed bags? I keep the bags in my garage, is that a mistake?

I have both light-colored and dark-colored Cubex pellets. The two tons I received both appear to be mixed (each bag is one or the other.) The light-colored pellets burn well, but the dark have a ton of ash.

First time user of pellet stove. I bought a used Breckwell Big E, and I have been trying to find a descent pellet since October 2010. I had no luck with any of the home Depot or Lowes brand. Furtenately, a friend introduced me to Cubex; it costs a little more but the difference is like night and day. Your family will thank-you and your stove will run cleanner and more efficient.
thanks,
