Lowes Wood Pellets

Lowes has started to receive wood pellets for the upcoming season. The price is $5.75/bag or $259/ton. That’s a little on the high side. The brand is “Prest-O_Logs by Lignetics. I have used Lignetics products in the past and I though they were very good.

My local Lowe’s is selling pellets for $4.59 per bag or $4.23 per bag when a pallet (50 bags) is purchased. Atlanta Georgia area.

Will you please let me know where the store is? I live in the Norcross area, the store near my house do not have any and they do not know if they will get any in. Thank you for your help.

If you are paying $5.75 for a 40# bag of wood pellets, which is 8000 BTU/#; you should seriously consider selling your pellet stove, and buying a coal stove. A 40# bag of Anthracite rice coal sells for $6.00 and is 13,000 BTU/#. To learn about the new automatic coal stoves, furnaces, boilers, and burning rice coal; go to the coal users forum. http://www.nepadigital.com/bb/index.php Ask Lowes to sell rice coal and automatic coal stoves.

Maryanne there are several places on Long Island that sell pellets. To date I have found the pellets we have purchased from Bethlehem Coal the best (631) 909-7050 You can also purchase through Long Island Pellet Fuel and Bravo Window and Door. As far as Lowes and Home Depot the feedback we’ve recieved from customers is poor when it comes the the brands they sell.

I agree with Lee. We used to have a woodburning stove that was a pain the ash and very messy. Since we purchased this pellet stove(England Stoves),the mess and hassle are gone. We love the rice cakes because of it’s so easy to remove.

We live in southern Del. and want to buy now for this winter. Who has the cheapest price? Can someone let me know.

  9. anthony says:

when purchasing pellets do not be fooled about premium grade. All pellets that are retailed on Long Island are graded premium. The grading system is in the process of being changed to seperate standard, premium and super premium. Through experience of burning wood pellets and the performance of your stove you will quickly see the difference between the products. The cheapest price is not how you want to shop for pellets. Ask the your supplier what the product consist of. If you are burning soft wood or softwood and hardwood combined or just hardwood. Ask what the raw material consist of. what types of wood example pine, poplar, white oak, hickory, swamp oak most products do not have this listed nor does some retailers know. My best advice is to try different bags from different suppliers. maybe try a friends product. just swap out a bag. run your own test . See how much heat comes out, how fast they burn, if they have a fowl odor, ,the size of the pellets, do they hang up your auger. the ash content is very important. the less ash the less frequent you need to clean your stove and the more eficcient it will run. some times the cheapest price ends up costing more time and more money. generally speaking i beleive the hardwood pellets burn slower and longer compared to the soft wood. on the other hand you tend to get a real hot flame from soft wood pellets. I find the oak pellets to be the best of both worlds. you get a longer and hotter burn. However the price is a bit more for a quality wood product.

The Lowe’s in Longmont, CO is charging 5.98/bag which comes out to $299/ton. The woman on the phone was not aware of any discounts for buying by the ton. They are selling Eureka Premium pellets.

I am going to check Home Depot today.

CALL Long Island Wood Pellet Supply for Country Boy Pellets. 100% oak. Arguably one of the best if not the best product on the market. Long Island Wood Pellet Supply aslo offers a great reliable service. Our deliveires are on schedule not locking you in the house waiting all day. We are entering our 5th season in buisness and growing larger each time. We do not just sell any pellet we could get our hands on We truly beleive our product sells itself. We have many customers that feel this is one of the best products they have burned in their stove. Please give us a call and we will gladly answer all your questions regarding pellet heating and wood pellets.

One last note. Some responses i have read said that it is cheaper to burn oil than pellets at this stage of the game. i really have to disagree. you will not save as much as you did last year however you will save a few hundred dollars and also have a very warm house. remember when your stove is on you are toasty warm with the inside temperature well above 70 in your home. if you were just burning oil or gas you would like most people have it set at 68 or less and be on the cold side in the comfort of your own home. Compare apples to apples . Their is no better heat than pellet heat. i have spoken to about 1000 stove owners in the past 5 years and maybe 2 people told me they were not happy about their stove. Most people tell me it is one of the best things they ever bought for their home. I love my stove and when i sell my house i told my wife i am bringing it with me even if i move to florida.

I have to agree that country boy pellets are the best I ever used. I don’t trust Lowe’s and Home Depot, they seem to sell mostly junk pellets. Go to a good dealer that knows what kind of pellets they are selling.

  12. Tony C. says:

Stay away from Pike Hard Wood Pellets that are sold by Long Island Pellet Fuel, 635 Pulaski Road, Greenlawn, NY.. The Pike Pellets are loaded with bark and leave much too much ash.
The best pellets around on LI are Country Boy White Lightening Oak pellets. You can burn them all day and you won’t get enough ash to fill the palm of your hand. You can get them from LI Wood Pellet Supply, 19 Chyam Street, North Babylon, NY … 631 243-1034

  13. tommy says:

Does anyone know where I can purchase a ton of wood pellets online and have them delivered to my house in South Carolina and still pay a decent price?

    • Dan says:

Check to see if you have a Souther States store nearby (kinda like a Tractor Supply). They sell premium pellets this season (09-10) for 249.99 a pallet and charge $40 for delivery.

  16. Rick says:

Reside in Rhode Island and have been using Appling County Pellets (8,200 BTU/less than 1% Ash/Moisture .5-8%) for $269. Reasonably happy but wondering about other options for higher BTU and lower ASH. Any info is greatly appreciated
