Storing Wood Pellets

Here is a pic of the 3 tons of pellets I bought from Home Depot for this season. Althought they take up space in the garage they’re easier to get too and there are no worries about snow or moisture. These are Fireside pellets that I bought at Home Depot when they had one of their 10% of promotions in the fall. They are a pretty decent pellet. They burn nice and warm and generate little ash.

A New Heating Season

Here it is the middle of August and retailers are gearing up for the winter heating season. The big box stores have started to stock pellets. Walmart has them for $4.95/bag, thats $247.50/ton.

The normal pellet supply houses have posted prices between $225-$230/ton.

There seems to be a good supply available unlike two years ago.
