A New Heating Season

Here it is the middle of August and retailers are gearing up for the winter heating season. The big box stores have started to stock pellets. Walmart has them for $4.95/bag, thats $247.50/ton.

The normal pellet supply houses have posted prices between $225-$230/ton.

There seems to be a good supply available unlike two years ago.

So we spend a hundred dollars on wood to save 10 dollars on gas or electricity, huh?

I live in Canada and just got a good deal on 3 tons of pellets……$5.25 a bag if you buy 75 bags or more, that is a great deal here as most bags go for over $6.50…. the thing I was wondering is they are Curran Pellets from NY……are they a good Pellet ?????? I have burned a bag and the amount of ash is good but do they throw off a descent amount of heat…..

Beware that Wal Mart pellets are made fom pallets and who knows what else. If your pellet stove can use cheap high ash pellets then these pellets are for you. But if you want low ash, low fines and a hotter burning pellet then look elsewhere.

I spent over $2,OOO.00 on LP (06/07 season) to heat my newer well insulated 1200sqf ranch home. I bought my pellets for 216 a ton at the local farm & Fleet in the 07/08 heating season and only used 2.5 tons therefore cost was a little over $500.00. Hmmmm seems a bit better than 10 bucks Billy.

Thank you Nicole, To tell you the truth I’m disappointed in the pricing of this years pellets..Last year Lowes had a summer price of 259.00 a ton in bags,,,this year no discount in the ton pricing just 5.97 a bag or 300.00 per ton …With oil at 2.00 to 2.25 a gal I find no savings in burning pellets..even last year at 259 + 15 a ton delivery i broke even…not including the cost of the stove…I hope that the increase cost of pellets is not going to kill the pellet industry like the coal businesses in the 90’s when the price of oil dropped
Please pass my feelings along to your upper management …Bill

Thank you for your interest in Lignetics Premium Wood Pellets. I have personally researched and located the closest dealer in your area.

    Marlborough Ace Hardware

    25 E. High St. #3-4-5

    East Hampton, CT 06421-1001

There are also sister stores to some of the Lowe’s and True Value warehouses, try checking your local Lowe’s and True Value stores and see when they will be receiving their loads from the warehouse. Also try Do-it-Best Centers and Ace Hardware stores, as well as any locally owed operations which purchase in bulk. There are also K-marts’ and Tractor Supply dealers that can be of assistance to when they will be receiving also.

If there is anything further I can help you with please feel free to contact me directly,

    Thanks kindly,
