A New Heating Season

Here it is the middle of August and retailers are gearing up for the winter heating season. The big box stores have started to stock pellets. Walmart has them for $4.95/bag, thats $247.50/ton.

The normal pellet supply houses have posted prices between $225-$230/ton.

There seems to be a good supply available unlike two years ago.

Beware that Wal Mart pellets are made fom pallets and who knows what else. If your pellet stove can use cheap high ash pellets then these pellets are for you. But if you want low ash, low fines and a hotter burning pellet then look elsewhere.

I spent over $2,OOO.00 on LP (06/07 season) to heat my newer well insulated 1200sqf ranch home. I bought my pellets for 216 a ton at the local farm & Fleet in the 07/08 heating season and only used 2.5 tons therefore cost was a little over $500.00. Hmmmm seems a bit better than 10 bucks Billy.
